I am sorry for upsetting you. I took your previous answer as a joking response and I replied with a joke as well. I see you don’t mean your response to be taken as a joke. I apologize for misunderstanding your previous post.

Short pieces are not easy to write. They can be exceedingly difficult. Think about a haiku…. a VERY short piece with a limit not only of words, but of syllables. One liners, haikus, couplets, limericks, cinquains — all are short pieces, none of them are easy to write.

This particular collaboration project is “One Liners” — One line poems. If you wish to write more for any (or all) themes, feel free. There are many other publications that will publish them. Heck, if you want to you can write your response to the theme as a part of one of our other projects.

But THIS project on Chalkboard is for short powerful pieces based on a specific theme. If you want your pieces published on the One Liner tab, you need to not exceed the state word/character limits. This is why we have defined what the word limits are.

We don’t expect everyone to publish their responses here on Chalkboard. Many people publish elsewhere and drop the links into a response to the original prompt. Heck, even I don’t publish all my responses here on Chalkboard . Several of mine have been published on Resistance Poetry, along with a few on other publications.

I strongly recommend you take a peek at Chalkboard’s other collaboration projects — they might be more to your tastes.
