In most cases, this is true. And I have stopped trying to love the worst of the pain givers. But there are others I can’t let go.

Why? Because they realized what they did and changed. Changed behaviours, changed actions, changed their hearts.

For one in particular the hurt is in the past. He has done what none thought he would. He survived. He grew up. He became a parent. He has become a dear friend. That is something many never thought would happen. Together, he and I battle the demons we share. Together we hope to win that battle.

For ones that I have let go, the inverse is true. They will not change. They think they have done nothing wrong. They do not understand my silence and do not seem to have any desire to understand it. I have no hope for them.

(The funny thing? Two people in particular may read this comment. The one in the first category knows that I am talking about him. The one that falls into the second category will never see himself in that category. Will never question himself. Will never allow us to heal.)
